Renowned
musicians to perform during Dasara festival

Renowned musicians will perform in the eight-day Dasara cultural programmes in Mysore, commencing from October 15. They will perform in the evenings on all the eight days from a specially erected platform in front of the Maharaja’s Palace, which will be gorgeously illuminated from 7 p.m. till the music programmes conclude. According to an official release, the famous artistes presenting their classical performances are as follows: October 15: Saxophone and clarionet duet (Jugalbandi) by Kadri Gopalanath and Narasimhalu Vadivati. October 16: Karnatak music by T.S.Seshagopalan and Hindustani music by Ganapathi Bhat Hasanagi– Jugalbandi (duet). October
17: Sugama Sangeeth (Light music – singing of
songs of Kannada poets) by famous singers of October 18: Hindustani music by Dr. Bhimsen Joshi. October 19: Karnatak music by Dr. R.K.Srikantan. October 20: Violin performance by Dr. L. Subramaniam October 21: Jugal Bandi (duet) by Usthad Bale Khan (Sitar performance - Hindustani music) and Mysore M.Nagaraj (Violin performance – Karnatak music). October 22: Gazal by Pakaj Udas. Besides this main programme of music, cultural programmes will also be conducted at other centres like Jaganmohan Palace (classical dance performances), Kala Mandira (Bharatheeyam), Rangayana (Nava Rangothsava – stage performances), and Rangacharlu Memorial Town Hall (Amateur plays). Apart from these cultural programmes, a special feature of this year’s celebrations will be adventure sports and air show and Yuva Dasara (Dasara programmes for young men and women) at Mysore University’s Open Air Theatre, in its post-graduate campus Manasa Gangotri. |
